Video: Social Media Influencer Receives Knocks For Making Fun Of A Beggar In Her Car

A Nigerian social media influencer has been criticised by many over a video she made, making fun of a beggar.

In a video which was posted on her Instagram story and has gone viral on social media, Omotara was seeing making fun of a beggar in her car while driving and sipping energy drink.

She later sped off while laughing with the beggar still running after her car. The lady who recorded the video and is believed to be Omotara’s friend was heard begging the Twitter influencer to stop the act.

However, displeased by the disgusting video, Nigerians on the popular micro-blogging platform have knocked the Influencer with many — in mockery of the financial status of her mother — telling Omotara that she is making fun of her mother’s colleague.

Omotara had on Saturday, November 21, shared her life story on Twitter after a fellow user who goes by the name Lade said God is someone who ignores her.

The social media Influencer narrated how her father abandoned her and her younger brother when they were six years and three years old respectively.

She also narrated how she got admission at Polytechnic Ibadan, Saki Campus right after her secondary school education, how her family couldn’t raise 12k for acceptance fees before her father’s uncle later offered to help.

She concluded that although she has graduated, served and is in a better place now, “I’m not rich but I’m comfortable and can take care of my Mum even tho not to my satisfaction yet cos she still hawks” she said.

Meanwhile, Omotara’s act in the viral video has led to the loss of her job as a Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Brotherkeeper, an NGO that focus on supporting, Giving and improving the society either by any means available.

The organization in a statement on Sunday said the act goes contrary to what it stands for and believes in.

“Brotherskeeper is an organisation that believes in humanitarian services and not the contrary. Due to this, we regret to announce that @ladymotara is no longer a member of Brotherskeeper and has been suspended from her duty as the Pro henceforth.

“The reason for this decision stems from a viral video circulating on social media of our PRO making fun of a beggar in her car while driving and sipping her drink.

“This act goes contrary to what our great organization stands for and believes in; therefore, it has been condemned in all sincerity.

“She is hereby directed to handover every documents of the Brotherskeeper organisation in her custody. We wish her good luck in her endeavours,” the statement read adding that the organization will never be in support of any degrading or dehumanising act.
