There was a moment in time when we had no Televisions, then we relied on simple means to get information and frankly, we were happy with ourselves because we didn’t know better.

The sounds of the gongs passed a message, our voices were all we had, and if what came out were lies, we had no way of finding out the truth immediately.

Gradually, development sprang. Radios and Televisions became a part of our lives filling that void.

Televisions are a big deal and I bet most houses if not all can boast of having a television set.

A television according to Oxford languages is a system for converting visual images (with sound) into electrical signals, transmitting them by radio or other means, and displaying them electronically on a screen.

Televisions have been given various names such as T.V, Tellie. Which do you use often?

We’ve been given information on real time and not only information about our immediate environment but across the globe by this technology. Televisions come in different sizes and shapes and to keep up with the trends. Change as we know is inevitable.

A television has become a core sense of aesthetic appeal in the home. A sort of social status attained even. This post will educate and pin point certain features and characteristics of a television set.

It is worthy to note that beyond just viewing your screen, Televisions are sorted according to the following:

By Screen Type

By Technology

By Resolution

By Features

This post will explain the screen type and television by it features and Resolution. So if you are interested in getting a new television and this is certainly for you. Avoid those confusion and read on.

BY SCREEN TYPE

Before now, we had T.V with big backsides. I know most people are familiar with it but for the new generation, they might mistake our vintage for a computer. Presently, we have

a. FLAT SCREEN TELEVISIONS

b. CURVED SCREEN ELEVISIONS

Flat screen television: this is the most basic and popular type of television in most homes. The screen is flat as the name implies and unlike previous models, it’s back compartment doesn’t come bigger. Less is more in this case.

Curved screen television: a more modern technology, more expensive too. This type of television has a curved end and to some extend, has a slimmer compartment to the flat screen television. This new technology is well sorted but the regular flat screen is more sorted for. This could be as a result of the price or just preference.

BY FEATURES

This is one of the criteria people consider before purchasing a new T.V

a.Smart TV

b. High Dynamic Range (HDR)

c. Voice Activated

A smart television depicts the mechanical combination of a television, PC, and a set-top box (think link box), and are link to the web. A smart television a combination technology. It is a technologically enhanced television having all functionality in one. The ability of the smart tv to connect to the internet, cable networks is an A+ feature that makes it a favourite y gadget.

High Dynamic Range also known as HDR is a feature that improve the picture quality of the pictures. There was a time watching a TV, one couldn’t tell colours apart, but the HDR, picture quality gets as close as real life experience.

Voice Activated TV are Televisions that have voice commands. Which the addition of internet into the television, having a voice Assistant is a minor task. A cool feature I must say. Imagine just sitting down and commanding your tv to change channels or record the screen. Cool!

BY RESOLUTION
a. 720p TV
b. 1080p HD
c. 4k Resolution
d. 8k Resolution

The 720p TV is an outdated tech, just for viewing. It lack good picture texture and upon improvement, we have the 1080p HD. A resolution on budget. Still in use an a little above the basic 720p TV. With advancement, these resolutions loose their worth.

The next in line is the 4k Resolution is a modern tech, real time pictures for better viewing. For the latest, we have the 8k Resolution. Let me shock you. If you are looking for quality and a better viewing experience, this is it with a high resolution sixteen times more than the basic High Definition resolution. But you know as new as they come, the more expensive it gets. This resolution comes with a good screen motion as well as increased sound performance. We are yet to know what the future holds. Who knows we might have transparent screen on our walls soon.

The evolution of Televisions from bulky screens to slim screen, internet inclusion, better sound quality and picture Resolution is a tip of what is to come. Technology is constantly making our lives better and more comfortable. More Television wonders are yet to come. Save up so when they do you can afford it. But for now, enjoy what is available and with your pocket size.
