Joe Biden, a top-tier presidential candidate of Democratic Party has been officially announced as the new president of the United States.

The 78 year old becomes the 46th president after he polled 290 – crossing the 270 electoral college votes threshold to defeat the incumbent President, Donald Trump who polled 214 in the 2020 election.

The former Vice-President will become the oldest president when he is inaugurated in January.

Senator Kamala Harris who is the running mate of Biden has broken history to become the first African American woman to be elected as the US Vice-President.
