…. becomes a two time GRAMMYs Award nominee

Nigeria’s Burna Boy has for the second time in a row secured a nomination at the Grammy as his album, Twice As Tall is nominated for the Awards in ‘Best Global Music Album’ category.

This makes the 29 year old Afro-fusion artist a two time Grammy Awards nominee. The nomination has finally sealed the fact that the Port Harcourt born is indeed an African Giant.

Burna is battling nominees such as Antibalas (FU Chronicles), Bebel Gilbert (AGORA),
Danbaba, Anoushka Shankar (LOVE LETTERS) and Tinariwen (AMADJAR) to become the winner.

Released on August 14, 2020, by Spaceship Entertainment, Atlantic Records and Warner Music, Twice As Tall is the only Afrobeats album to be nominated for the Awards.

The Best Global Music Album category consists of albums containing at least 51% playing time of new vocal or instrumental Global Music recordings.

Burna Boy’s first nomination at the Grammys was in 2019 with his fourth Studio album, African Giant. Legendary Afro-pop singer, Angélique Kidjo, however defeated Burna to become the winner.

The Beninese beat out fellow nominees Burna Boy (African Giant), Altin Gün (Gece), Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley (What Heat) and Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet (Fanm D’Ayiti).

Kidjo has been nominated for the Grammys six times and has won all.

The album which was nominated for Best World Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Award is a mixture of Afrobeats, Afrobeat, dancehall, pop and hip hop. It was released on 26 July, 2019.
